The company was founded by Mr. George Lyons in 1986 and formally
incorporated in 1988. Prior to opening the first store, Mr. Lyons spent two
full years in research and development to determine how the company could create
a unique All American niche in the gourmet coffee business.
While working with the architectural firm of Skidmore Owings
and Merrill to fulfill their requirement to develop an exciting concept in the
lobby of Bank of America's Data Technology Headquarters, Mr. Lyons conceived
the idea of a replica of the San Francisco Cable Car.
The San Francisco Cable car has a million dollar recognition
factor. It is recognized around the world as the American symbol of San Francisco,
"everyone's favorite city", and it imparts a positive image of warmth and long
term stability.
During a fifteen year period (1986 to 2001) Cable Car Coffee
Company Inc. has developed and refined its unique concept to where they now
have stores in operation in Northern California with additional stores in
Hong Kong and Japan under License Agreements.
Our engineering has enabled us to create a complete self contained
gourmet coffee store that permits you to relocate the entire invested capital
when a lease expires, thereby eliminating downside risks.
These stores have proven our operation and management systems,
the quality of our product and services, and have demonstrated the long-term
stability of Cable Car Coffee Company Inc.
